The new 75,000 SF Instructional Building was designed to consolidate the departments within the Humanities Department - Communication Studies, English, English as a Second Language, Foreign Languages, and Reading - under one roof for the first time. The project features 50 classrooms, 37 faculty offices, a departmental Division office and lounge, computer labs, and a central courtyard.
This three-story building is the first new construction at Fullerton College’s campus in ten years, so efforts were made to accurately complement the original 1930’s Beaux-Arts style of the existing buildings while incorporating many energy saving principles, including solar shading, extensive daylight harvesting, energy efficient and durable building envelope, and future photovoltaic (PV) power production.
